PLA is polylactic acid which is made from corn starch. It is a bioplastic that is both compostable & biodegradable.
PLA is very unique material as it is made from corn and not from petroleum. Regular plastics are made from petroleum while PLA is made from corn based resins which makes PLA non toxic and annually renewable resources. PLA is very environmentally friendly material since it is made from renewable resource – Corn. Plastics products may take thousands of years to degrade while PLA products biodegrade within 180 days in a composting system.
The PLA clear products are heat resistant to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. So, PLA products are good for cold products. PLA is not microwave safe, but PLA is freezer safe.
Micon Mould are experienced in manufacture plastic spoon moulds. Such as plastic spoon for yogurt, ice cream, Jelly and many other snacks. The spoon mold can be designed in round and rectangle shape, Semi hot runner and cold runner.
Cavity and core steel: We use DIN1.2316 or S136 antirust steel for these mold to sure the long mold life and mold quality. But if customer need cheap price, we can use other steel accordingly.
Cavity amount: According to the production demands for customer, We have done plastic spoon mould 48 cavities, 36 cavities, 24 cavities, 12 cavities.
Mould design: We make the most suitable mould design according to the specific product. And we will design the gate plastic as little as possible. Our designer employed from the experienced workers. They have rich experience in the spoon mold design.
Runner system: We use fully hot runner, semi hot runner for the spoons. As fully hot runner can save the runner plastic material.

Due to the large amount of cutlery used, We can use steel appointed by customer or we recommend 2344, H13, 2083 etc.
Micon can manufacture various types and sizes plastic spoon molds, plastic fork molds, plastic knife molds, biodegradable tableware molds, foldable cutlery molds etc.
Because cutlery moulds have a relatively large number of cavities, they typically use the semi-hot runner system, but the full hot runner system can also be used.
Customers choose materials according to their needs. Disposable cutlery usually uses PP or PS. If it is foldable cutlery, use PP. Biodegradable cutlery usually uses PLA, PSM.
